SUMMARY
The Senior BAS Technician - Projects plays a vital role in delivering exceptional building automation solutions, with a strong focus on expertise in Tridium Niagara (N4), Honeywell WEBS, Schneider, and JCI FX Building Automation Systems (BAS). This position is responsible for leading projects from start to finish, including system design, programming, graphics creation, commissioning, warranty management, energy optimization, and implementing strategies to reduce operating costs.
Extensive experience with Tridium Niagara (N4), Honeywell WEBS, Schneider, and JCI FX is essential, as the Senior BAS Technician will oversee complex automation projects, troubleshoot advanced issues, and deliver customized solutions to meet clients' evolving needs. As a key team member, this role involves managing multiple project phases and collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and optimal system performance.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Automation Systems and Software
Program and create graphics for HVAC equipment using BAS software, verifying system performance and functionality. Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections and protocols. Simulate sequences of operations to verify proper system parameters and optimize performance using the necessary software tools. Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment, network communications, peripherals, valves, actuators, relays, and sensors during project commissioning. Verify the installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment related to the BAS throughout the project lifecycle. Perform inspections, tests, adjustments, and evaluations of low-voltage electronic components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and tolerances. Use technical manuals and documentation to calibrate electrical and electronic equipment as needed.
Commissioning BAS systems
Commission BAS systems, verifying end-to-end functionality and resolving any anomalies. Provide commissioning verification checklists to the Project Manager throughout the commissioning process to ensure smooth project delivery.Support to Junior Team Members
Plan, develop, and lead junior team members, providing mentorship and technical guidance in support of the BAS Manager. Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members to build project execution capacity.
Best Practice and Knowledge
Strong understanding of HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories.
Documentation and Reporting
Assist in preparing project specifications and reports by collecting and compiling data as requested by the Project or BAS Manager.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Proven ability to self-learn, utilize and transfer to appropriate team members in an effort to enhance overall team awareness of existing and new technologies. Minimum of 7+ years related experience. Certified in Tridium Niagara AX – N4. Strong understanding of HVAC equipment/mechanical components and how they relate to control strategies and theories. Extensive knowledge and experience with BAS system installations. Extensive knowledge of multiple system integration strategies and applications. Extensive knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols. Strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. Ability to work in a process driven environment. Superior time management and multi-tasking abilities. Proven ability to effectively mentor and train employees.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
Technician, diploma Technologist diploma or Engineering degree in a related technological field to BAS. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation. Networking certification.
