Sr Associate, Production - (Hybrid)

Crown Publishing Group is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Senior Production Associate to join our one-color book team. In this role, you’ll be managing the complete book production process from layouts to archiving final files and manufacturing.     

 

Crown is the flagship imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, which is home to authors such as Barack and Michelle Obama, Matthew McConaughey, Erik Larson, Liane Moriarity and Chris Whitaker. The production team works closely with managing editorial, production editorial, designers, editors, and outside vendors to carefully bring each project to fruition.

 

This role reports to the Associate Production Director, whose team handles titles for several imprints within Crown including Crown Trade, Crown Currency and Storehouse Voices.    

 

Specific responsibilities include:  

 

Cost estimating, including multiple options for a variety of effects and book formats   Entering and maintaining book specifications in SAP   Creating book schedules and maintaining dates in Filemaker Pro   Daily communication with vendors and suppliers   Preflighting of interior and component files in Acrobat   Sending files to outside compositors   Reviewing proofs for 1/c book interiors and 1/c and 4/c inserts  Issuing prepress and manufacturing purchase orders and approving invoices   Archiving final print files and quality control of printed books

Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant book production experience.   Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time and to effectively problem solve.   Knowledge of prepress, color correction, printing, binding, and special effects.   Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills   Proficient basic math skills to accurately complete book cost estimates   Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office   Familiarity with SAP and Filemaker Pro a plus  

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, we will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA). 

 

The salary for this position is $61,000.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
