JOB SUMMARY:
The accountant/senior accountant will participate in the accounting, consolidation, and reporting of NewMarket Corporation’s global operations and will have responsibility for assigned technical accounting areas, which will include certain of the following: stock-based compensation, retirement plan accounting, segment reporting, legal/environmental analysis, identifiable intangible assets and goodwill, common stock/EPS, and debt-related processes. In addition, the accountant/senior accountant will participate in preparation and filing of our SEC forms, as well as special projects, which could include the implementation of new accounting rules, regulations, and standards of the SEC and FASB, acquisitions/dispositions, software implementation, and other projects, as needed.
Responsibilities Prepare assigned sections of the consolidated financial statements and detailed footnotes in accordance with SEC and FASB disclosure requirements, including obtaining and analyzing appropriate supporting data to completeComplete XBRL tagging and review of SEC filingsParticipate in filing the financial statements (10-Q, 10-K, 11-K) and earnings releases (8K) with the SECPerform monthly, quarterly, and annual process to include analysis and reconciliation of assigned areas to ensure compliance with internal controls for assigned processesDesign and prepare reports to meet various internal and external requirementsRespond to internal and external questionsInteract with external auditors, addressing questions, as neededComplete special projects as assignedMaintain up-to-date knowledge of US GAAPMaintain up-to-date knowledge of SEC requirements QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's of Science in AccountingLicensed CPA 3-8 years relevant work experienceExperience with an ERP software accounting systemDesired Qualifications
