SQL DBA
Description The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases. This role ensures the availability, performance, security, and reliability of SQL Server databases and works closely with application developers, system administrators, and IT support teams to maintain and optimize the database environment. Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure the quality, consistency and security of company data and database systems following a defined set of procedures and facilities (change control, security procedures, backups, etc). • Troubleshoot and recover down database systems. • Analyze and resolve end user and system reported problems. Communicate problems and their resolution to the team. • Follow and maintain policies and procedures to ensure system availability and keep each system tuned for optimum performance. Monitor the health of each database and the success of each backup. • Assist in the planning, design and implementation of database projects and the database component of other engineering projects. Participate in database schema design sessions with the team. • Assist software engineers in query performance tuning as requested. Help identify inefficient queries; suggest alternatives in a constructive manner. • Perform resource and capacity planning for systems and databases. Monitor system growth. • Share 24/7 on call rotation with other team members. • Actively address business unit requests, clearly communicating commitments, issues, completion dates and status with the requestor and with management. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or in a similar role. • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administration) are a plus. • Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, and high availability. Experience Level Intermediate Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
