Job Title Spring 2025 Admissions Office Internship Department Admissions Job Description/Duties As an intern, you will participate in various projects that are coordinated by the Admissions Office, and will be given responsibilities such as:

Organizing On-Campus Visitation Programs The intern is responsible for assisting during Open House, day to day visitation programs and group visits. Assist with the check in process of daily visitors Create a professional rapport with tour guides

Social Media The intern will be responsible for updating our social media pages and exploring new ways to utilize them for recruitment opportunities. The intern will work with the supervisor and the Admissions Assistant Director of Communications to promote social media. Content Creation: Develop engaging posts that highlight the institution’s culture, events, and student experiences. Collaboration: Work with the admissions team and other departments to gather content and promote key initiatives. Event Promotion: Create buzz around admissions events, open houses, and campus visits through targeted social media campaigns. Brand Consistency: Ensure all content aligns with the institution’s branding and messaging guidelines. Coordinating Bus Trips (Group Visits) High School students all across New York want to visit SUNY Cortland. The intern will coordinate the visit, establish an itinerary and meet with the students when they arrive on campus. Work with tour guides and supervisor with creating group visit confirmation’s through Signup Genius and our CRM- Slate. Recruit, Train, and Coordinate Tour GuidesThe intern will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing all new and past student tour guides. This means working with them and their schedules all throughout the semester for tours, open houses, student panels and other programs run by the Admissions office.Schedule Creation Gather Information: Collect availability from all tour guides (days and times they can lead tours). Create the Schedule: Utilize a spreadsheet for easy access and updates. Include Details: For each tour, list the date, time, guide assigned, and any special notes Communicate with Guides: Distribute the final schedule to all tour guides and ensure they confirm their assigned times. Establish a training schedule for new hires Recruitment of New InternsThe intern is responsible for creating their own advertising campaign in search for a new intern for the next semester. The intern will also be a part of the interview and selection process for the new intern.Online ChatsParticipate in online chats with perspective students and webinars. Days/Hours Needed The internship is traditionally offered for 6 credits.
17 hours per week spent in the office – hours distributed daily, Monday through Friday.

SUNY Cortland Admissions, Miller Building Required Qualifications Must be a SUNY Cortland student Must be Junior or Senior Status Minimum GPA of 2.5 required Strong public speaking skills, organization skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and technology proficiency Great campus ambassador Preferred Qualifications Previous participation with the Admissions Office. (ex. tour guide) Event planning experience Flexible schedule Team player A friendly and approachable demeanor to assist prospective students and families General knowledge of campus resources, programs, and information about SUNY Cortland Physical Demands Occasional lifting of office material
