Speech Language Pathologist: Pay Grade:$35.69-57.10 Responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients with a variety of speech, language, swallowing, voice and cognitive disorders (adult and children) Develops and implements treatment plan and programs for patients based on diagnosis and prognostic assessment. This includes long and short term goals. Provides information to the medical staff and other health professionals which may cause modifications of treatment plans/goals Maintains appropriate records on all patients, noting prescription of therapy, statement of medical necessity, patient problems and reaction to treatment if applicable, as well as treatment plans, goals and other necessary information relative to the treatment process. Participates in quality assessment programs/activities, continuing education and in-services as directed by Clinical SLP Supervisor Gathers and assures confidentiality of information necessary to properly evaluate and treat referred patients and them performs complete initial speech and/or swallowing assessment Maintains competencies in required area which may include but not inclusive to DPNS, LSVT, e-stim, PMSV use, and instrumental swallowing assessments (MBS and/or FEES). Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. Promotes adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct. Attends annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training. Participates in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements. Actively participates in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities Adheres to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff. Knowledge of rehabilitation policies and procedures as it relates to Speech Pathology Services as well as clinical and fiscal data collection and reporting Ability to assess patients with a variety of communication disorders and establish treatment priorities, exercising independent and ethical judgment in execution of plans of care Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relationships with staff, physicians, Hospital and University officials, and the general public. Qualified Candidate possess: Master’s degree from an accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders Two years clinical experience in acute care. MBS experience preferred.
