Position Summary:
Responsible for evaluating, assessing and treating persons with speech, language, voice, fluency and swallow disorders. May select an alternative communication system and teach its use.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides Speech Pathology evaluations including appropriateness of intervention, establishing the problem list, treatment plan of care, frequency and duration of treatment, and goals of speech treatment. Administers appropriate speech treatment consistent with the plan of care.3. Re-evaluates, revises, or terminates treatment plan and goals as necessary.
4. Documents treatment provided appropriately in medical record in accordance with department policies.
5. Coordinates with other disciplines for effective treatment including Case Management and discharge planning.
6. Participates in quality assurance activities for the department.
7. Maintains expertise in the field of Speech Pathology through continuing education.
8. Delegates work assignments to support personnel.
9. May lead clinical affiliates.
10. Demonstrates initiative and flexibility with work assignments.
Performs other related job duties as requested.Qualifications:
Required:
· Master Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Clinical fellowship prepared as evidenced by Speech-Language Pathologist Ed Limited License
· Eligible for or completion of clinical fellowship year in a hospital, rehab center, or long-term care facility, or Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing. CCC is required within 3 months of completing CFY requirements.
· Current State of Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathologist licensure or when CCC is obtained.
· BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
