Position Responsibilities:

1. Checks patient chart prior to procedure to verify procedure ordered against patient requisition in accordance with written department protocol.

2. Provides accurate identifying data (such as patient's name, room number, date, time and technician's ID) on each test as required.

3. Performs studies in patient's room, in the department, and in other areas of the hospital, as needed.

4. Demonstrates appropriate use of all types of equipment.

5. Performs diagnostic procedures employing specific technical skills required to produce quality results. Assesses quality of tracing to minimize artifacts and other problems.

6. Communicates with team leader/ Director/ manager on status of patients if significant change has occurred.

7. Preps patient and place electrodes according to the American Heart Association standards or writes on the tracing position changes and reason.

8. During stress testing, documents all major arrhythmias and ECG changes.

9. Connects and removes Holter monitors according to standards.

10. Checks recording during test in progress at least one time to ensure proper operation.

11. Performs basic Holter scanning. Records examples of abnormalities including beginning and end of rhythm disturbances. Prints a minimum of 12 ECG strips.

12. Places a properly labeled copy of ECG performed in patient's chart.                                                                                                                                         

Qualifications:

1-2 years experience preferably within healthcare. High School or GED equivalent plus medical terminology preferred.
