Specialist- Lab Support (US)

The Opportunity:

Under moderate supervision, provide direct benchtop services support at customer facilities. Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments). Maintain lab inventory and labeling (e.g. chemical reagents, glassware, gas cylinder levels). Verification/maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters, sonicator cleaning, glass washing).

Location: Cambridge, MA

Schedule: 1st Shift/ M-F 7am - 3:30pm or 7:30am - 4pm

Hourly Rate: $28hr

What we’re looking for  

·       Education: Highschool diploma and or GED required, associates degree or BA/BS Degree in Science field preferred.

·       Experience: 3-5 years equivalent experience including college degree, basic knowledge of a lab environment and excellent time management skills, and expereince in pipetting.

·       Collaboration Tool: Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:  

Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety, security clearances and medical checkups.

Requires knowledge in using various instruments to prepare for and perform tests

Strong communication skills

Excellent customer service skills; display a professional can do attitude

High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures

Must be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task oriented

Ability to self-manage and self-motivate; forward thinking

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs minimum

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

Follow established Standard Operating Procedures(SOP's)

Provide technical support for production operations

Assist with calibration, trouble shooting, and validation of lab equipment

Perform other duties as assigned
