Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as Specialist, Mechanical Designer/Drafter. This position supports a variety of mission-critical programs with specific focus on Space Avionics packaging design. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical design and drafting, with a strong proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD software. The drafter will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for electronic packaging solutions that meet engineering specifications and industry standards.
Essential Functions:
Create precise 3D models and 2D drawings of electronic packaging components and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.Collaborate with engineers to understand design requirements and implement design changes.Update and maintain the accuracy of drawings and documentation in accordance with changes in design or manufacturing processes.Ensure that all drawings and models comply with industry standards, company standards, and customer specifications.Prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs) and documentation packages for production and assembly.Participate in design review meetings and provide technical support to the engineering team.Manage and organize CAD files and drawing databases.Work with manufacturing and quality control teams to troubleshoot issues during the production process.Continuously improve drafting processes and procedures to increase efficiency and qualityQualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD software is required.Familiarity with IPC standards for electronic assemblies and packaging is a plus.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties.Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Good communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectivelProficient with computer design tools (Solidworks and/or PTC Windchill / CREO) is required.Mastery of GD&T and drawing standards is required.Experience with Space Avionics/electronics packaging design and assembly is preferred. Mastery of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards, fundamental GD&T and dimensional stack-up tolerances, basic machine shop metal working capabilities, common finishes & fabrication methods is required.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.Preferred Additional Skills:
Strong written and oral communication skillsGood interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others and establish effective, ongoing relationships throughout the organizationPrior experience in aerospace and defense.
