Job Description:
An Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This role involves working with students in grades K-4 who have a range of learning, behavioral, and medical needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with general education teachers, special educators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to create a supportive and effective learning environment. You will use a variety of teaching methods and tools to engage students and help them achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs. Adapt and modify the general education curriculum to meet the individual needs of students. Utilize co-teaching strategies to support inclusive education. Employ the Zones of Regulation framework to help students manage their emotions and behaviors. Use data-based decision-making to inform instruction and track student progress. Foster collaborative partnerships with staff, students, and families to support student success. Build strong relationships with students to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Participate in problem-solving meetings and contribute to the development of intervention plans.Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. State certification in special education is mandatory. Previous experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable.
