QUALIFICATIONS: + Hold valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification + Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards + Knowledge of Committee on Special Education process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation and progress monitoring. + Experience with providing special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment + Experience with developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs + Experience with establishing and maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers and other relevant stakeholders + Flexibility to meet the needs of a range of student learners + In-depth knowledge of effective interventions + Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff + Strong communication skills + Proven success working with students + Strong organizational and planning skills RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall include but are not limited to the following: + Differentiate instruction based upon student learning styles; + Utilize data information systems and engage in data analysis in order to formulate action plans to support students; + Participate in the Committee on Special Education process, Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation and progress monitoring. + Provide special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment + Develop and/or modify curriculum, prepare lessons and provide specially designed instruction to address individual student needs + Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education and students + Ability to engage culturally diverse students; and + Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders + Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal, Director of Elementary or Secondary Special Education or other district office administration TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The position of Special Education Teacher is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers’ Association. EVALUATION: Per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers’ Association. REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Elementary or Secondary Special Education SALARY: Minimum starting salary $46,726 (negotiable based on experience), as per the Victor Teachers' Association agreement.
