Job SummarySupervises and coordinates the daily activities of Sterile Processing or Central Sterile Supply unit. Assumes the duties of the Unit Manager when needed. Responsible for engagement activities, performance feedback and corrective actions. Responds to customer needs and concerns. Acts as a trouble-shooter and makes recommendations for and/or implements process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Prepares and evaluates daily staff assignments for assigned shifts.Ensures staff are in compliance with department and CCF policies, procedures and protocols.Assesses quality of services delivery to ensure department quality standards are met, turnaround time is efficient and ORneeds are met.Provides performance feedback to employees, and when applicable, corrective action.Leads department employee engagement activities.Facilitates staff development programs including in-services on product usage and infection control.Assists in orienting new employees and may act as preceptor.Collects data and prepares reports concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement.Administers an instrument preventative maintenance program.Uses the department's instrument and productivity tracking program to maintain accurate records regarding sterilization and setassembly count sheets.Establishes internal inventory levels and maintains levels in accordance with set standards.Establishes par level stocks and monitors for proper utilization, as applicable.Actively seeks ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain work-flow and improve customer service.Demonstrates use of Process Improvement Standards (PIS) techniques and philosophies.Other duties as assigned.Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.Certifications:
Sterile Processing Certification required from a recognized program.Certified Central Service Supervisor registration desirable within one year of hire.Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:
Minimum three years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required.Two years as a CS/SPD Lead Technician preferred.Operating Room experience is highly desirable.Physical Requirements:
Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching and lifting.Some instrument trays may weigh in excess of 30 pounds.Possible exposure to biohazardous materials, possible exposure to carcinogenic and hazardous chemicals and gases.Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
