Project Description:

Xcel Energy's Siting & Land Rights Department has an opportunity available for an internship in Minneapolis, MN.The Siting and Land Rights Department is responsible for: acquiring easements and property in support of Xcel Energy’s capital improvement projects; obtaining permits from state and local agencies; and coordinating construction activities and acting as a liaison with stake holders. Siting and Land Rights is seeking a part time Permitting and Land Rights intern during the school year with the opportunity to work full time during summer breaks. This internship is an incredible opportunity to experience and learn about the real estate and development industry from the ground up at Xcel Energy.This intern role will perform the range of activities associated with the planning, siting, and acquisition of property, permits and land rights for the construction, operation and maintenance of gas, electric and generation facilities for Xcel Energy and its operating and subsidiary companies.  Analyze zoning and environmental attributes is support of acquiring property for new substations.Assist in the preparation of permits and land use applications for expansion or rebuild of natural gas and electric lines.Support the Siting & Land Rights Department with land rights negotiations and associated title research and easement/lease document preparation.Assist with landowner notification of upcoming gas, electric and wind generation construction activitiesCoordinate the purchase and sale of property.Attend meetings with stakeholders. Perform record keeping tasks.This will be a summer opportunity with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer.  If the intern works during the school year, their hours should be part-time.

Minimum Requirements:

Enrolled in programs focused on Science, Technology, or Mathematics, such as computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, accounting, data science, drafting, gas design, electric design, project management, construction management, chemistry, biology, environmental studies, natural sciences, and similar.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $18.40 per hour
