Position Summary
Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who is responsible for program coordinating student clinical rotations, teaching assigned sonographic classes and supervision of students in the clinical setting.
· Teach each semester as assigned-may include day and evening sections, on and off campus, weekends, and distance learning technologies.
· Teach by Lab/Clinical courses as assigned by the Program Director, within the Certification Areas held.
· Post and hold a minimum of 1 office hour per course weekly.
· Prepare and distribute to all students a syllabus consistent with the course of study for each course taught.
· Prepare grade reports for each course taught.
· Recommend appropriate texts and support materials for each course taught.
· Assist in requisition adequate instructional equipment and supplies.
· In collaboration with program director, review course content, teaching modality etc. at the end of each semester.
· Evaluate course instruction in accordance with established policies within accreditation bodies.
· Schedule and supervise students during clinical experiences.
· Work with community health care organizations to sustain and enhance the profession of sonography.
· Serve as liaison between school and the health care community.
· Be responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Program Director.
· Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the concentration students are enrolled within.
· Provide progression of clinical instruction and document the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence.
· Student Support
· Refer students to school resources such as advising, counseling, tutoring, financial aid etc. as appropriate.
· Maintain a positive, professional relationship with colleagues, supervisors, students and the community.
· Participate in required faculty meetings.
· Attend on/off campus professional development activities as schedule permits.
· Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of the school.
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Graduate of a two year allied health program required. Must be actively pursuing a B.S. Degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications
:Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required
Licenses:
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) credentialed in one of the following areas:
Abdomen, OB/GYNRDCS or RCSRVT
Must have working knowledge of the different types of sonographer equipment. Teaching Aids: AV equipment, books, journals, MS Office and Google works.
Documentation of experience in education theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology or assessment techniques after hire..
Minimum Work Experience
Two (2) years of professional experience as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer required
Previous experience as a Sonography instructor preferred
