CGI is seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with extensive experience in the Life Insurance sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure solutions that meet the business needs of our clients in Toronto, Canada. This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) / client office 3 times per week - subject to change at any time.
• Act as liaison and bridge/facilitate the communication and understanding between the IT architecture team and business owners
• Analyze technology, industry and market trends, and determine their potential impact on enterprise modernization program
• Review business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential solutions, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal solution, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and consultation to development teams working on the enterprise modernization and guide them to adopt modern software development and integration methods.
• Design scalable, resilient and secure solutions that are not only a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the overall enterprise architecture and the organization’s standards and norms.
• Prioritize cloud adaption by incorporating cloud-native services into the proposed architecture including the peripheral toolsets pertaining to microservices, API-first and DevOps methodologies.
• Lead technical discussions with external vendors to assess their product offerings and integrations into enterprise architecture while meeting the life insurance business, technology and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with other Solution Architects to evaluate and recommend solutions that balance innovation with cost-effectiveness and risk management
• Partner with business pillars (UW, Claims, actuarial etc.) to deliver enhanced digital experiences and operational efficiencies.
• Represent and own technology solutions in various review and governance bodies to provide technology expertise
• Assist in the development of a detailed architecture blueprints, reference architectures, and implementation strategies for modernization initiatives within the program
• Work closely with Information Technology professionals within the organization to ensure infrastructure is optimized for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity and industry-specific regulations (SOX, PCI DSS etc.)
• University degree and/or advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent
• 10+ years of progressive experience in solution architecture, encompassing application, data, integration, security, operations, and infrastructure views.
• Extensive experience in the life insurance industry, including knowledge of marketing & distribution, new business, underwriting, policy administration, and enterprise solutions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills
• Proven track record of providing high level estimates and solutions architecture based on requirements
• Ability to develop high-level application architecture solution designs and high level implementation estimates
• Ability to develop detailed application architecture solution designs and detailed implementation estimates
• Ability to summarize, prepare and present complex technical solutions to non-technical project stakeholders
• Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools e.g. TOGAF, FEAF or ITIL certifications.
• Exhibits solid business knowledge, and advanced knowledge of technology industry, products, and processes, involving exposure to multiple disciplines and/or multiple industries and familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC, e.g. Agile) including project management and requirements management methodologies
• Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure
• Professional experience working with and analyzing computer hardware and software
• Extensive knowledge and experience working with operating systems
• Knowledge in legacy system transformation to modern applications is considered a differentiator. For e.g. SOA and/or monolithic to microservices, traditional web applications to cloud-native applications etc.
• Experience in modern architectural patterns like event-driven architecture, API-first methodologies etc.
• Experiences in the following areas are considered assets: GIT, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio code, Node, Angular, TypeScript, ASP.net, Docker, Helm-Charts, Rancher, API Gateway
