Must-haves
- 3-5 years of experience as a QA tester (closer to 5 is preferable)
- Experience with manual/functional testing
- Experience validating data with SQL queries in an Oracle database (SQL joins, etc.)
- Experience testing trading applications (Security Finance, Prime Brokerage, Fixed Income, Equity, FX, etc.)
- Great communication skills and ability to present reports and write/read test cases
- Ability to be the only point of contact for a large QA project
Day-to-Day
We are looking for a talented and motivated QA resource to join a Quality Assurance team within a Capital Markets organization. This team consists of 8 people to focus on supporting numerous applications within Prime and Security Finance organizations. This organization supports three lines of business, and each line of business has over 10 proprietary applications. The end users of these applications include Hedge Fund managers, Broker-Deals, and a Trading Desk. The applications vary in composition but technologies include HTML5, SQL and Oracle, JQuery, Unix and Linux. The development teams sit in New Jersey, Boston, and India so the resource must be comfortable working with teams that are not local. This team is primarily responsible for manual/functional testing of the applications. This includes running tests on the application's GUI, logging into an Oracle database, running a SQL query, and verifying that the database results match the output on the GUI screen. We are l ooking for a candidate who spends 60% of his time focused on manual and functional testing, however also has 40% automation experience. We are open to candidates who have a mix of both manual and automated experience, however he or she must be comfortable learning automation. The long term strategy of this team is to be able to automate all process and tests from the start. This candidate will be taught to use QTP and will learn how to run scripts within QTP and also write VB scripts from scratch. He or she should also have in depth experience running SQL queries in an Oracle Database. The candidate will also be responsible for running point on an entire project from a QA perspective and must have the confidence to present status reports, read/write/reveal test cases and be able to communicate well.
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher or Foreign Equivalent in a related field of Study is required with related experience
