Launched in 2023, Integrated Services creates and markets new customer experiences by integrating hardware, software and services across Ford Blue, Model e and Ford Pro. The Digital Product Lab team at Ford is seeking a talented and versatile software prototyper to join the team. We’re a dynamic group pushing the boundaries of infotainment technology, and we need someone who can think creatively, solve problems and collaborate effectively. 

As a lead developer in the digital prototype lab, you would wear many hats. You will be responsible for guiding a team of developers in building interactive prototypes for new product concepts, ensuring technical feasibility and user-friendliness. This involves collaborating with designers, product managers and other stakeholders to translate ideas into functional software. You will also be deeply involved in setting technical standards, mentoring junior developers, and staying abreast of emerging technologies to drive innovation within the lab. 

You'll have... 

Bachelor’s degree  5+ years of software development experience. This means a deep understanding of programming concepts like data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming and design patterns  5+ years of experience in programming languages. Fluency in at least one or more of the following. C/C++, Python, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, Swift software languages  5+ years of Android/AOSP or iOS mobile app development  1-3 years of experience building applications using Java, Kotlin and Android SDK 

Even better, you may have...

5+ years of experience with Linux, Linux kernel development, CAN, API and web technologies  1-3 years experience Swift or Objective-c and the iOS SDK  Understanding of software development lifecycles: Familiarity with common SDLC methodologies like agile, waterfall or scrum.  A proven track record of setting and exceeding aggressive product goals  Ability to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment  Ability to work independently and effectively across internal and external organizations  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to senior leadership  Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously, multi-task, and meet deadlines.  The ability to effectively communicate technical ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences  Passion for the automotive and mobility industry

What you'll do...

Software protype development: You’ll be at the forefront of creating and refining prototypes for new infotainment products/concepts. This involves developing interactive software prototypes that showcase user interfaces, features and functionalities. You’ll be responsible for working closely with product managers to ensure prototypes meet their specific requirements. 

 

Test bench development and maintenance: You’ll contribute to the development and maintenance of our test benches, ensuring they can run the latest software and accurately simulate real-world conditions. This includes troubleshooting software issues, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new features. 

 

Product support: You’ll work closely with product managers to provide technical expertise and guidance during the product discovery and framing phase. This includes explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, identifying potential issues and suggestion solutions. You will assist the product managers in the initial development of their product requirements for their products.
