Software Engineering Manager II, Pixel Performance

Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team to ensure performance for Pixel phones and tablets, and will focus on SoC platform and device performance characterization and optimization, establishing, and improving performance KPIs. You will develop OS performance management software, tuning device policy, analyze metrics and profile workloads, analyze lab and field performance issues, and improve performance on future hardware architectures. You will also work across various functional teams to create innovative and efficient solutions utilizing system resources such as CPU and fabric in the SoC and ensuring the system runs smoothly to support key use cases. The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world. + Build performance roadmaps and execution strategies. + Plan, execute, and deliver significant improvements to Pixel performance and thermal software on key use-cases, collaborating with cross-functional teams across software, hardware, and research. + Track, monitor, and optimize lab and field metrics to improve device performance and thermals across device and software releases. + Influence future product roadmaps for improvement of Pixel performance and thermal behavior, through collaboration with hardware and silicon partners. + Report product status and achievements to collaborators and stakeholders in product and executive management.
