Software Engineer – Vehicle Software Quality
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI, or the Milford Proving Ground in Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
As a Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team providing innovative solutions to enhance the automation of vehicle testing. This team works on defining, implementing, and leveraging new and existing in-vehicle/cloud enablers to bring a better framework to expand the testing of vehicles prior to customer delivery.
This team is focused on built-in quality by improving code coverage, implementing code quality gates, and establishing a robust automated testing framework to ensure the products being delivered are of high quality and functionality. This position will work on a fast-paced projects with a lot of internal visibility.

What You’ll Do
Assist in the development of applications in Python and C++.
Perform software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis, and object-oriented analysis and design under the guidance of senior engineers.
Diagnose, debug, and solve issues related to vehicle hardware and software with support from senior team members.
Design and test scalable code deployment.
Contribute to the team’s workflows and processes to improve velocity and quality.
Develop relationships across various organizations while sustaining open communications to enable collaboration with the common goal of customer satisfaction.
Conduct research on new products and drive implementation to benefit/optimize overall software development.
Support hands-on work with vehicle systems, including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communications protocols.
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering degree.
2+ years in software development experience with Python and/or C++.
Hands-on experience in integrating various systems and deriving solutions.
Comfortable working in a fast-pace and innovative environment where problems are complex and not always well-defined.
Ability to work in a team environment where knowledge sharing, relationship building, open communication, and documentation is encouraged.
Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
Ability to prioritize work with limited direction from a supervisor.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
3+ years in software development experience.
Experience with Docker, Kotlin, Java and/or Raspberry Pi.
Experience with GIT/source code management, CI/CD development, open-source SW development/contributor.
Experience in automotive systems and vehicle data sets.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable presenting to leadership and tailoring to multiple audiences.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet requirements and deadlines.
Willingness to learn and quickly adjust to new tools and systems.
