Software Engineer - Observability

Build the future of the AI Data Cloud. Join the Snowflake team.

The Observability team at Snowflake is in charge of building an extensible, self-service Observability platform that reliably collects and serves telemetry data such as metrics, logs, traces to both Snowflake customers and internal Snowflake teams. When developing these solutions, we think about the problem end-to-end: how do we collect data from different stacks across Snowflake reliably, how do we store it efficiently, how do we present this information to the user, what actions do we take on the insights from the data?

We are actively looking for a software engineer. If you love solving problems at scale, prefer to write scalable, reliable, and testable software, are an ace troubleshooter, and are deeply technical, then this is the role for you!

AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEERING AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:

Build tools and automation to enhance system monitoring, alerting, and root cause analysis.

Improve and optimize data ingestion, storage, and query efficiency for observability data at scale.

Collaborate with teams across Snowflake to understand observability needs and implement solutions that improve operational visibility.

Contribute to open-source and industry best practices in observability and distributed systems monitoring.

Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of observability systems by participating in on-call rotations and incident management.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

2+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java or C++

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

BS / MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields

Experience developing or using observability infrastructure such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus etc is a plus.
