Your role and responsibilitiesThe R&D Software Engineer will support the digital assets of IMD products. This includes the user interface software platform utilized across IMDs to configure, program, and monitor ABB IMD products as well as the firmware release process related to IMD components. The candidate will actively manage the development internally and/or with third parties to develop the IMD tool software platform. The candidate will coordinate with internal R&D team members as well as suppliers of IMD components. The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-HybridThis role is contributing to the Motion NEMA Motors division in Greenville, SC OR Fort Smith, AR. Main stakeholders are R&D, IS, Operations, Business and others.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tWorking as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.•\tTechnical proficiency in UI development for both windows and mobile applications.•\tDesign solutions by creating new software programs and systems, testing programs, and deploying programs and applications.•\tPerforming various tasks in the assigned area (e.g., mechanics, electronics, thermal, software), from building concepts, gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, testing, technology transfer or maintenance, and operations.•\tUnderstanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.•\tDriving the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and raising and addressing risks.Our team dynamicsYou will join a dynamic, high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.
Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree and minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and advanced degree.Experience using software development lifecycle model and understanding of Microsoft technologies such as C++, C#.Working experience with Software development tools such as Git, Visual Studio.Front-end development for windows UI and Mobile app development knowledge for both Android and iOS.Experience with cross-functional teams and developing design requirements, clear communication - written and verbal. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in networking technologies and communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Modbus RTU, or other industrial protocols.Familiarity of motor inverter control algorithms and implementation
