Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
+ 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
+ 2 years of experience with distributed systems and system design.
+ Experience with C++.
+ Experience with SQL.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
+ Experience developing accessible technologies.
+ Experience with database internals or query processing engines.
+ Experience identifying performance issues and driving optimizations using profiling, tracing, benchmarking, and other tools.
+ Experience architecting and developing distributed systems.

Spanner combines the power and familiarity of relational databases with horizontal scalability typical of non-relational stores. The Core Query Processing team’s mission is to support query optimization and execution techniques with a focus on making SQL queries easier to author in general.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Write product or system development code.
+ Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
+ Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
+ Deliver features across the SQL tech stack (e.g., parser/analyzer, planner/optimizer, execution runtime, indexing, schema update processing).
+ Analyze CPU and latency performance to identify issues and estimate beneficial impact, propose technical solutions, help build consensus on technical strategy.
