As a Software Engineer II - Card Data Platform Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Credit Card Technology Team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job responsibilities
Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting Designs and delivers trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics data platform solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way Design and develop data pipelines to ingest, store, and process data from multiple sources Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience Exposure to AWS cloud technologies, including S3 Exposure to SQL-based technologies (e.g., MySQL/ Oracle DB) Proficient in coding in one or more languages; Java or Python Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages Cloud implementation experience with AWS including Data Services, Data De/Serialization, Data Security Experience with statistical data analysis and ability to determine appropriate tools and data patterns to perform analysis Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
AWS Data Services Preferred including proficiency in Lake formation, Glue ETL (or) EMR, S3, Glue Catalog, Athena, Kinesis (or) MSK, Airflow (or) Lambda + Step Functions + Event Bridge Data De/Serialization Preferred including expertise in at least 2 of the formats: Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO, JSON-LD AWS Data Security Preferred including a good understanding of security concepts such as: Lake formation, IAM, Service roles, Encryption, KMS, Secrets Manager Snowflake knowledge or experience preferred In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems Worked with building Data lake, built Data platforms, built Data frameworks, Built/Design of Data as a Service APPlease note this position is a Hybrid Office Work Position with our Office in Plano, Texas.
