As a **Software Engineer II** working on the team, you will be responsible for making improvements to the delivery platform with a focus on making web products do more, do it faster, and do it securely. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine requirements to help improve the web delivery platform to support Microsoft products. Leverage a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes. + Profile performance problems and drive optimizations that span web delivery platform and the product. This entails applying debugging tools and examining logs, telemetry, and other methods to understand possibly optimizations, test them and verify their impact during rollout. + Lead by example within the team by producing maintainable code and infrastructure. Optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). + Drive efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed when making changes. This is to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, and performance. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the implications of onboarding delivery technologies following expectations of compliance at Microsoft and Outlook. + Remain current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments and evangelizing to the rest of the team. + Propose, design and implement new features that help the quality of the Outlook products. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 1+ years of experience with Web browser development. + Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools. **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + Experience with building and deploying new platform features at scale. + Experience with open source and Web development. Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
