**About the Role** Uber’s Ads Engineering Org is revolutionizing how advertisers reach their audiences while ensuring an optimal user experience. As a Software Engineer II, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing core ads systems, including campaign management, ad delivery, and reporting. You will work with high-scale distributed systems and data-driven ad optimizations to improve Uber’s growing Ads platform. **\-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ----** 1. Develop and enhance ad supply optimization systems to ensure efficient allocation of Uber’s ad inventory. 2. Collaborate with Ads Data Science, Machine Learning, and Product teams to design intelligent ad optimization solutions. 3. Build and maintain high-scale backend services and distributed systems that power Uber’s ad ecosystem. 4. Work with big data processing technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark, Presto) to analyze ad performance and improve optimization algorithms. 5. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance through robust engineering practices. 6. Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute to the team’s technical roadmap. **\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----** 1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 2. 2+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development and distributed systems. 3. Proficiency in Java, Scala, Python, or Golang for backend development. 4. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design. 5. Experience working with real-time data streaming and batch processing frameworks (Kafka, Flink, Spark). 6. Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databases, and large-scale storage solutions. 7. Hands-on experience in building microservices. 8. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code. **\-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ----** 1. Experience working in AdTech, Ad Monetization, or Programmatic Advertising. 2. Experience with A/B testing and performance measurement for ad products. 3. Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams. For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
