Job Description Summary:
We are looking for software engineers who are curious, fast-learning, and versatile, to join the team to develop the next-generation of Self Service solutions that will change how development teams manage their APIs. You will work closely with product, architects and other teams to understand the business needs and deliver solutions to meet their needs.Job Description:
This role is critical to defining the way developers at PayPal define APIs both internally and externally. You will be responsible for developing the workflow used by application developers to create world class API lifecycle management, along with many of the components that feed into that workflow.
Your way to impact:
• You will have a voice in bringing to life a modernized API platform within PayPal that has high visibility.
• You will be a key contributor in enabling the onboarding of PayPal APIs into modern API platform tooling.
• You will help enable API Governance via CI/CD pipelines that ensure compliance with PayPal REST API standards.
• As a steward of a PayPal-wide API registry, you will ensure developers can collaborate across domains with minimal friction.
Your day-to-day:
• Work with product management, architects, and senior staff to ensure we are building a world class solution.
• Have a voice in technical discussions to help the team determine the best path forward at inflection points during the design process.
• Participate in agile development practices which give you the opportunity to iterate and improve
• Have the support of architects and senior staff engineers with decades of experience to help you develop your career
What you need to bring:
• 5+ years of Software Development experience
• Proficiency in Java and knowledge of best practices
• Proficiency in Node.js, React and/or Typescript
• Skilled at debugging and finding innovative solutions
• B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science
• Familiar with CI/CD Pipelines and build processes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in source code control tools such as Git and testing best practices
Nice to have:
• Familiarity with Terraform
• Familiarity with Spectral and OpenAPI (OAS3)
• Familiarity with Jenkins or Harness Pipelines
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or Splunk
• Experience with large scale distributed systems
