Hybrid work

Udemy is headquartered in San Francisco with global offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Türkiye, and other US locations. Our robust hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, Mexico City and Melbourne. 

This hybrid position requires two days per week in the office at the nearest hub.

  About the Role

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Software Engineer (IC2) with experience in React Native to join our Native Mobile team. As a member of our engineering team, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of our mobile applications, helping to deliver exceptional experiences to millions of users globally.

This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about mobile technology and eager to grow their skills while building impactful, high-quality cross-platform solutions. You will collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver features that make a difference for our users.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

React Native Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of mobile applications using React Native, ensuring functionality and responsiveness on both iOS and Android platforms.

Feature Implementation: Collaborate with product and design teams to implement new features and enhancements.

Optimize Performance: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure a smooth user experience.

Mobile Best Practices: Follow mobile development best practices, including code quality, testing, and version control.

Integration: Work with backend teams to integrate APIs and third-party services into the mobile application.

Collaborative Development: Participate in team discussions, code reviews, and technical planning to ensure quality and alignment with team goals.

Testing and Debugging: Write unit and integration tests, debug issues, and contribute to a reliable CI/CD pipeline.

 

Experience and Knowledge

2+ years of experience in mobile app development with a focus on React Native.

Proficiency in JavaScript and familiarity with TypeScript for mobile application development.

Basic understanding of iOS and Android development, including platform-specific guidelines and optimizations.

Knowledge of mobile development patterns and principles (e.g., MVC, MVVM).

Experience working with RESTful APIs and third-party libraries.

Familiarity with testing frameworks and CI/CD tools is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.

Effective communication skills and ability to work across teams
