Software EngineerAbout this role:
Dual North America is one of the leading insurance underwriters in the United States. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to create and maintain in-house software and systems. Additionally, the successful candidate will develop client facing products that will maintain Dual’s edge on the competition. Essential Functions:
The Software Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement new software programs
Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
Work with developers to design algorithms and flowcharts
Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications
Integrate software components and third-party programs
Verify and deploy programs and systems
Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
Gather and evaluate user feedback
Recommend and execute improvements
Create technical documentation for reference and reporting
This position will be primarily assigned to the Flood program and will develop, maintain, and deploy customer facing websites
Create reports for internal and external consumption
Create and maintain SQL scripts in support of the business objectiv
Qualification and Skills:
BSc/BA/AS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
2+ years’ experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar role
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment
Knowledge of coding languages (e.g. C#)
Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Angular
Experience with SQL
Familiarity with source control systems (Git preferred)
Ability to learn new languages and technologies
Excellent communication skills
Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude
Ability to work independently and with a team
Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business
Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
Strong attention to detail
