Software Development Manager - Content Platform
What You'll Do Avalara is growing, and we are developing a unified One Content Platform to source and manage all tax and compliance content. Imagine having all the world's compliance information in one place. As part of this initiative, you will lead a team of 8-10 software engineers, including Software Engineers in Test and SREs, to bring Avalara's vision to life. While we prefer candidates based in Pune, we are open to remote candidates with a strong background and relevant skill set. In addition, we are transforming how our researchers work by harnessing the power of Generative AI. In this role, you will have the opportunity to combine Generative AI with your engineering expertise to build the next-generation content platform. What You'll Need to be Successful Job Duties Lead and manage a group of engineers and leads Building and managing good relationship with the product management, program management and cross functional teams Achieve hiring and retention targets of the team Defining product roadmap and strategy for features delivery Review program OKRs for success and align with the team goals Maintain high productivity, morale and growth culture in the team Promote best practices and contributing in community presence Experience building solution using Generatuve AI preferred Be a strong advocate of automating testing and processes Responsible for growth of team members at all levels Ensure team is following agile and other set processes Act as a mentor/coach to engineers and leads to share your knowledge and expertise Hands on experience building scalable distributed systems with service oriented architecture in the containerized environment with public cloud infrastucture About the Team Qualifications Bachelor/master's degree in computer science or equivalent 10+ years of full stack experience in software design and development Minimum 2 years of managerial experience Expert in Java/C# programming language Experience of working on AWS Cloud and DevOps (Terraform, Docker, ECS, Kubernetes etc.) would be beneficial Should be self-motivated with focus on automating everything Strong computer science fundamentals, problem solver and agile skills Strong people management skills and experience of managing managers Proven experience of developing the skills and career of team members Experience of leading teams that built scalable products Inspirational leader who understands the needs of customer and business to translate them into vision of the team Experience of working in matrix organisations Excellent verbal and written communication skills How We'll Take Care of You Total Rewards In addition to a great compensation package, paid time off, and paid parental leave, many Avalara employees are eligible for bonuses.
