About the Role & Team

Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research arm of The Walt Disney Company’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, the talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.

The Walt Disney Imagineering Technology Studio is looking for a dedicated Graphics Engineer and Unreal Graphics Engine Software Developer to build and deploy the next generation of show technologies that will drive our guest experiences in upcoming attractions and venues.

What You Will Do

Graphics engine development in Unreal

Unreal engine development

Software estimation, scheduling, planning, design, implementation, and closeout activities for assigned project scope. Must work closely with other technical divisions of work to ensure constructed systems (inclusive of both hardware and software) operate cooperatively and optimally over the expected usable life of the project.

Must balance evolving technical requirements with fixed budgets and schedules and communicate risks and options to both Studio and Project leadership.

Partner with both Studio and Project leadership to implement project goals while employing best software development practices and adhering to relevant company and industry standards.

Develop and/or maintain multiple complex whole projects or entire pieces of software both guest-facing and internal WDI-facing. This includes architecture, design, and implementation.

Work with project leads to provide updates to the status and condition of software product progress.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Knowledge in GPU Rendering architecture

Knowledge in C, C++, C#

Knowledge in graphics API (d3d11/d3d12/opengl/vulkan) and shader language (HLSL)

Knowledge in Unreal and/or Unity or similar game engine development

3+ years knowledge and experience with modern software development practices, including version control and workflow management tools including JIRA, Github, Gitlab, Jenkins, etc.

Demonstrable technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in GPU Rendering architecture

Expertise in C, C++, C#, JS/Node.JS and/or Python.

Expertise in graphics API (d3d11/d3d12/opengl/vulkan) and shader language (HLSL)

Shipped game titles and/or software products

Experience with building interactive installations into physical spaces.

Familiarity and/or experience with: Touch Designer, Physical Hardware

Proven ability to learn new programming languages and work within complicated systems.

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees preferred.

Additional Information

This role is located onsite in Glendale, CA.

This role may require travel on behalf of the company to project destinations for business trips and installs (between overnight and 3 months stay).

The hiring range for this position in location is $138,900 to $186,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
