Family Description

Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

R&D Architecture (RDA) comprises capturing of business, operational, technical, and / or non functional requirements from the stakeholders and the delivery of an architecture to meet the defined needs and constraints. Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional descriptions. RDA has a broad system and product architecture competence and ecosystem understanding.

Core Competencies:

Embedded Systems Expertise: Strong experience in embedded systems with a focus on Linux kernel, OpenWRT, RDK-B, prpl, and device drivers. Network Protocols & Forwarding Layer: Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, etc.) and extensive experience working with forwarding layers and programming network chipsets. Architecture Tools & Process: Familiarity with architecture design tools and processes is essential for ensuring well-structured, scalable solutions. AI/ML Exposure (Added Advantage): Exposure to AI/ML technologies, particularly for enhancing networking functionalities, is a plus.

Familiarity with Architecture Tools: Strong understanding of architecture tools and design methodologies. Innovation & Forward-thinking: Ability to foresee future trends and propose cutting-edge solutions. The System Architect plays a crucial role in defining the product architecture and technical vision and roadmap for the Business unit. 

Requirement Analysis & Solution Definition: Work with PLM and customers to understand technical needs and requirements. Analyze, design, and define solutions based on customer requirements, including estimating efforts and resource requirements. Technical Leadership: Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in embedded systems, network chipsets, and AI/ML. Provide mentorship to other architects, ensuring technical consistency and high-quality solutions. Guide development and testing teams, particularly on forward layers and programming network chipsets. Customer Engagement & Collaboration: Engage directly with customers, presenting innovative solutions, and unique product features. Collaborate with customer teams to define and align on architecture solutions. Agile & Quality Delivery Focus: Drive an agile development approach, ensuring quick, quality-driven solutions. Maintain high-quality standards throughout the design and delivery processes.
