JOB SUMMARY

The Social Worker is responsible for assessing both short-term and long-term patient needs as well as helping individuals, families, and caretakers to cope with problems they’re facing to improve their patients’ lives.

Master’s Degree in Social Work 

Minimum Work Experience

1 year of social work experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

Licensed Social Worker in the state of Texas

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Knowledge of and mastery of theories and modalities used in the specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness. Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of patients. Ability to determine priority for services and provide specialized treatment services. Knowledge and expert skill in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services. Ability to coordinate the delivery of specialized services and programs. Ability to design system changes based on empirical findings. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives. Skill in evaluating operations as they relate to policies, goals and objectives, costs, and rate levels. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Skill in communication when interacting with staff and users in-person or by phone. Ability to interpret information as appropriate, answer complex questions in a professional manner and communicate in a courteous, clear and concise manner. Ability to create an atmosphere that encourages motivation, innovation, and high performance. Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, demonstrating innovation in the creation of new models of psychosocial assessment or intervention to identify and address specialized clinical needs. Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
