Social Performance Manager

Job Description

This role will be responsible for all social development and community engagement in the surrounding area of the operation. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of approved Social Performance strategy and plans initiatives at the operation.

Job responsibilities include: 

Social Way Development and Implementation

Create and maintain a detailed profile of the host communities.Develop and create a detailed Social Improvement Plan for the operation and facilitate the co-creation of a long-term community development plan for the host communities.Assist the Social Performance Project Manager – SLP and CSI to identify, select and prioritize local community projects, by ensuring alignment with Social and Labour Plan (SLP), SEAT, Anglo Platinum Social Performance Strategy and IDP of local government.Manage the implementation of internal Social Performance process efficiency improvement project plans and monitor projects for changes to progress, budget, scope or risks.Report on Social Improvement Plans and Community Development progress to Social Manager Projects who in turn provides the Operational assurance through the reporting role to the Operations GM.Develop, review and annually update Operational Social Improvement plans and action plan.Maintain project information on ENABLON system to ensure auditabilityDevelop stakeholder engagement feedback mechanisms to the host communities.Identification, liaison and facilitation role for transformation.Identify and profile local stakeholders.Develop local stakeholder database.Identification of Local Issues, categorize and prioritize them accordingly.Develop an issues management plan and feed into the central Issues Management System and track progress as per Anglo American Social Way.Create if required and facilitate community engagement forums and other necessary engagement frameworks.Launch and showcase social projects.

Social and Labour Plan (SLP)

Participate in the process of developing, reviewing and annually updating the five-year Social Improvement Plans (SLP) for the operation and translate that to Social and Labour Plans.Report to Senior Social Performance Manager, Future Forum and Operational Unit Management on progress against the targets and commitments of the SLP

This role is in the Social Performance department and will report to the General Manager on the Operation.  

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in a relevant disciplineBusiness/Project Management qualifications - Advantageous

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in social performance with extensive experience in social impact assessment and stakeholder engagementExperience in managing a teamExperience of implementing the Anglo American Social Way management system is highly desirableExperience in managing projects/large programmes of workDemonstrated success in multi-disciplinary collaborationProven track record of dealing with external stakeholders at local government and community levelMining sector experience highly desirableBasic local language highly desirable but not essential
