Job Summary
Reporting to the Snowmaking and Snow Surfaces Managers, the Snowmaking Supervisor oversees all aspects of snowmaking at Killington and Pico, including all snowmaking personnel. The Snowmaking Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all goals of the snowmaking department are being met by means of effective and efficient communication between snowmaking management and snowmaking employees.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
In coordination with the Snowmaking Manager-plan, coordinate and oversee all snowmaking operations year-round.
Supervise, mentor and train a team of 75+/- snowmaking staff
Direct and assist in training all snowmaking personnel, modify procedures as needed.
Maintain a safe and respectful working environment.
Conduct end of season/year performance evaluations of all snowmaking personnel.
Assist in the proper recruitment, hiring and training of employees.
Operate in place of the Snowmaking Manager, when necessary.
Plan, conduct and file weekly staff safety meetings.
Ensure all company safety policies and procedures are completed by all department employees.
Confer regularly with staff to plan and coordinate activities, check work and resolve problems.
Plan work schedules in coordination with the Snowmaking Manager.
Review shift operations and performance.
Check past, current and future snowmaking trails to ensure goals are being met and equipment is distributed properly.
Check equipment and buildings to ensure all are in compliance with company safety standards.
Attend management staff meetings and trainings.
Prepare various administrative/operations reports and records as needed.
Oversee and maintain inventory of all snowmaking supplies and materials.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of all equipment.
Provide superior service to our customers, internal and external, at all times.
Interact with resort guests in a courteous, efficient and informative manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Previous supervisory or management experience, 3+ years preferred
Broad base of snowmaking experience, 7+ years preferred
Ability to work night shift, weekends and holidays
Currently possess a valid state driver’s license
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment used in snowmaking applications such as pumps, compressors, valves, and the like
Ability to perform manual labor work in the outdoors in extreme cold and all weather conditions
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, etc.
Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of company personnel
Must be flexible and able to adjust to the requirements of the resort as needed
