Job Description

We are seeking a skilled SMT Operator for 1st shift (7am-3:30pm) or 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm). The role involves hand placement and alignment of surface mount technology (SMT) components in a high mix, quick-turn environment. Training will be provided in the first week from 7am-3:30pm. The position includes pulling parts from customer inventory, verifying solder print quality, and setting up and processing assemblies in the SMT reflow oven.

ResponsibilitiesPull parts from customer inventoryVerify solder print qualityHand place and align SMT components down to 0402, fine pitch, and BGA packagesSet up and process assemblies in SMT reflow ovenVerify sample solder qualityPerform First Article verification using assembly instructionsUpdate SMT and Reflow record logsRead and understand detailed Assembly Instructions (A.I.)Follow ANSI/ESD S20.20 and IPC-A-610 standardsInterpret part values by color code or numerical valuesConfirm part value using digital multi-meter and LCR meterIdentify manufacturer’s part number markings and critical component featuresIdentify, document, and report non-conforming materialInspect solder joint qualityEssential SkillsFamiliar with ESD handling procedures per ANSI/ESD S20.20Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001Ability to read and understand Assembly Instructions (A.I.)Basic English skillsComputer proficiency for basic mouse clicks and opening applicationsAdditional Skills & QualificationsMechanically inclinedExperience with machine operation and production assemblyFamiliarity with tools such as calipers and general production toolsExperience in electromechanical assembly and medical devices1-3 years of Production/Manufacturing experience (training provided for entry-level operators)Good job tenure (2-3 years in each job)Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
