Job Title: SMA SRE Platform Manager
Location: London /Newbury( HYBRID)- Minimum 8 Days a month
Role Purpose
The SRE Platform Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and optimisation of our existing platform infrastructure, and is key to supporting our journey towards SRE within security monitoring and analytics domain. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SRE concepts and ideally be adept at implementing and managing security monitoring and analytics tools. This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for continuous improvement and security. This role will be responsible for ensuring the highest possible availability for platforms and ensuring that incidents are responded to, and resolved, efficiently and effectively.
What you’ll doKey Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation Drive the adoption of SRE and security monitoring practices within the team, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives Develop and implement strategies to improve platform reliability, security, performance, and scalability
Platform Development & Maintenance:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of platform infrastructure Ensure the platform meets high standards of reliability, availability, performance, and security Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and optimise existing ones
SRE and Security Transformation:
Champion SRE principles such as automation, monitoring, and incident response within the team Develop and implement processes to reduce toil, enhance system resilience, and improve service reliability Implement and manage security monitoring and analytics tools to enhance threat detection, incident response, and system performance
Monitoring, Incident Management, and Security:
Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and security systems to proactively identify and address issues
Ownership of the incident response workflow across the domain. Ensuring the tight integration of both onshore and offshore teams
Lead incident response efforts, conducting post-mortems and implementing improvements to prevent recurrence
Develop and maintain SLAs, SLOs, error budgets, and security protocols to ensure high service and security standards
Continuous Improvement:
Analyse system performance, operational metrics, and security data to identify areas for improvement Drive initiatives to optimise platform efficiency, cost-effectiveness, resource utilisation, and security posture Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security threats, applying them to enhance platform capabilitiesWho you areQualifications:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field
Experience:
Proven experience in a platform management or similar role Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices Experience with security monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., SIEM, ELK Stack, SOAR) Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, etc.) Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and security tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, etc.) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Leadership Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skill Proven ability to drive change and foster a culture of continuous improvement and security awareness
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in relevant technologies (AWS Certified, Google Cloud Certified, etc.) Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible) Understanding of networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments What's in it for youDiscretionary yearly bonus: 10%
