Overview The SLP Clinical Fellow examines and evaluates patients, developing effective treatment plans appropriate for the patient condition. The SLP Fellow measures patient progress, modifies treatment plans, educates the patient and communicates well with the interdisciplinary team to produce optimal outcomes. All activities performed by the SLP Clinical Fellow will be monitored, directly and indirectly, by a Speech Language Pathologist employed by the hospital, as required by the Provisional Employment Experience requirement. Qualifications Required Education: Master's degree Necessary Skills: 1. Knowledge of Speech Therapy theory, procedures, practices and equipment. 2. Good communication skills. Proactive, positive approach to problem solving. 3. Thorough knowledge of possible hazards/necessary precautions/remedial measures in the treatment and care of patients. 4. Ability to assess and implement a treatment programs for simple and complex therapy diagnoses. 5. Computer skills in Microsoft Office suite. Required Licensure/Certifications: Florida license: Speech Language Pathologist provisional license BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required Experience: Less than one year clinical experience, experience obtained in clinical rotations applies Preferred Experience: Acute care experience preferred. Experience with video swallow studies, speaking valve, and voice prosthesis is preferred. Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups
