Position Summary:
The Skilled Trades Helper is responsible for maintaining buildings, and equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ The House manager is responsible for general house cleaning and other residential needs required by the occupants of the area of operation
+ This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy
+ Adhere to the vision and guiding principles of the Finance and Administration Division Perform custodial duties according to the prescribed procedures and training put forth by the Custodial Coordinator
+ Empties waste baskets, dumps trash, and replaces trash bags
+ Use cleaning supplies, equipment cleansers and other agents to clean floors, furniture, walls, windows, and windowsills
+ Sweeps, mops, and buffs floors, vacuums and shampoos rugs, cleans baseboards, dusts furniture and fixtures, washes windows and blinds, and empties trash
+ Strips and waxes floors, as needed
+ Cleans bathroom fixtures and stocks bathroom with soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels
+ Collects and launders dirty linens, towels and other soiled items
+ Monitor maintenance and grounds needs and assure that proper reporting procedures are followed
+ Reports work orders to operational personnel concerning minor and major maintenance repairs
+ Conducts inventory of equipment, linens, supplies, and materials to maintain current demands and determine future needs
+ Collaborates with facility operational units to ensure prompt service delivery for repairs and other needs
+ Coordinates set-up preparations for large group meetings and special events
+ Follow oral and/or written instructions while work independently without close supervision
+ Maintain a flexible work schedule; work overtime and weekends, if necessary
+ Greets visitors, provide assistance to the public and other staff, and assists customers with special needs
+ Wear the assigned uniform as designated in the uniform policy
+ Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, and heating and air conditioning, and the operation, maintenance, and safety requirements of motorized vehicles and equipment
Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, perform routine building and grounds maintenance work, and operate and maintain electrical tools and machinery
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed

This position is considered Essential Personnel in Facilities Management
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma
One (1) year of experience or training in the building construction trades, general building maintenance, or in the repair or maintenance of mechanical equipment
Preferred to possess a valid Driver's License
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
