Miller Brother Staffing is actively seeking a Shop Worker for a local Construction Company in Pittsburgh PA.

Shift: 1st
Pay: $17-$19 boe

Nature of Work

The Shop Employee position includes a variety of semi-skilled and skilled level work in the fabrication of sheet metal, assembly of HVAC building packages, and delivery of building packages.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

2. Measuring distances with a tape measure.

3. Selects the appropriate type of sheet metal.

4. Cuts sheet metal by hand or using power shears.

5. Cuts into shapes to be used in heating and air conditioning ducts.

6. Bends ducts to form shapes.

7. Utilizes mastic to seal joints.

8. Operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, forming rolls to cut bend, block and form or straighten materials.

9. Uses scribers, dividers, and squares to mark dimensions on materials.

10. Prepares and completes orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship).

11. Receives and processes warehouse products (pick, unload, label, store)

12. Keeps a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.

13. Analyzes and resolves work problems.

14. Maintains company tools and equipment.

15. Performs other related tasks as required.

 

Responsibility and Authority

The position of the Shop Employee carries no supervisory authority. The Shop Employee reports to the Shop Supervisor. The Shop Employee’s responsibilities include storing materials, picking, packing, and the manipulation of sheet metal. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The position of the Shop Employee requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

1. Ability to perform physical indoor/outdoor activities usually inside of a warehouse. 

2. Physical stamina and strength to perform required tasks. Ability to lift and carry material around the warehouse. 

3. Ability to lift and haul 30 to 50 pound materials. 

4. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of hand tools, machines, and other equipment used in the work. 

5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions as well as packaging lists and follows guides for the manipulation of sheet metal. 

6. The ability to complete work on your feet for extended periods of time.

7. Ability to operate a forklift.

8. Do paper work associated with the job and time sheet.

9. Knowledge of and ability to apply safety precautions and utilize the provided safety equipment while performing assigned work. 

10. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees/take directions and communicate effectively.

 

Minimum Experience and Training

The Shop Employee position requires experience in related work and the demonstrated ability to utilize sheet metal tools and perform work as assigned. The ability of getting to the Shop, everyday is required.
