**Job Description**

This internship provides a bridge between military service and a meaningful career in healthcare, allowing participants to continue their tradition of service—this time, by helping make healthcare better for all.

**Our SkillBridge internships offer exposure to a variety of business functions and divisions, including but not limited to:**
+ Information Technology & Cybersecurity – Supporting innovation in digital health solutions and data security.
+ Project & Program Management – Driving initiatives that enhance healthcare delivery and operational efficiency.
+ Data Analytics & Business Intelligence – Leveraging data to improve decision-making and patient outcomes.
+ Human Resources & Talent Acquisition – Helping to shape a strong workforce through recruitment and professional development.
+ Healthcare Operations & Customer Experience – Ensuring quality service and access to care for our members.
+ Finance & Business Strategy – Supporting fiscal responsibility and strategic growth initiatives.
**Eligibility Requirements:**
+ Applicants must be active-duty service members within their last 180 days of service at the time of internship start.
+ Participants must receive approval from their commanding officer and service branch to engage in SkillBridge. Blue Cross NC does not determine eligibility for participation.
+ A minimum of 12 weeks of commitment is required for internship placement at Blue Cross NC.
+ Candidates must have a clear end-of-service date that aligns with the internship timeline.

**Internship Placement & Selection:**
+ Internship placement is not guaranteed and is based on available learning/training opportunities and the alignment of the service member’s skills and interests with organizational needs.
+ Selected candidates will undergo a formal interview process to determine fit for available roles.
+ Internships are unpaid and intended for training purposes only, with no guarantee of post-program employment.
+ Participation is contingent upon approval from the service member's commanding officer and is not determined by Blue Cross NC.
**Application Process:**
+ Interested applicants must submit a current resume outlining military and civilian experience.
+ Command and service branch approval documentation (if available).
+ A statement of interest or cover letter describing career goals and SkillBridge program objectives.
+ Final selection is contingent upon Blue Cross NC’s internal review and business need alignment.
**Program Compliance:**
+ The Blue Cross NC SkillBridge Program is conducted in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) policies, guidance, and regulations. Participation is subject to DoD approval, and all service members must adhere to applicable program requirements throughout their internship.
**Additional Considerations**
+ Service members are responsible for their own housing, transportation, and living expenses during the internship.
+ Participation in the internship does not imply a future employment offer but provides valuable industry experience.

**Salary Range**
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
