Job Summary
The Master Black Belt (MBB) advances the organization's focus and commitment to continuous performance improvement through teaching, mentoring, project leadership and assisting/advising hospital administration at all levels in the overall improvement opportunities in their areas. They are accountable for the financial system improvement and organizational competency in performance improvement. The MBB is the organization's senior technical expert/practitioner in the application and integration of performance improvement tools and methods. They lead, facilitate, and teach teams of process experts on complex/strategic projects and initiatives requiring an integrated application of performance improvement tools/methods. The MBB is responsible for aligning organizational actions to support both short and long term business objectives, and fosters a preventive approach to minimize overall costs, reduce waste, and increase revenue. MBBs are responsible for applying best practices for introduction, driving, and sustaining major change initiatives across the organization. They establish and monitor process metrics used for the control and improvement of work processes. The MBB drives learning, innovation, and simultaneous improvements in work systems, organization, quality, cost, patient focused care, and productivity.
Responsibilities
• Collaborates with organizational leadership and process experts to clarify and develop project scope and project sequencing recommendations.
• Provides consultation to organizational leadership regarding the appropriate approach/application of performance improvement tools and methods to be used to address organizational challenges.
• Leads the identification, prioritization and selection of process improvement opportunities and lean deployment, to substantially increase consistency, quality and efficiency of services.
• Facilitates large system-wide change.
• Tracks, manages, and moves performance improvement projects forward to completion; provides expert direction and advice to teams to ensure success.
• Responsible for the oversight and management of lean six sigma performance improvement projects.
• Assists with the Impact Leadership performance improvement steering committee structure development and refinement.
• Management of organizational projects that are the most significant in scope, complexity, and situations in which a need for integrated application of performance improvement tools/methods is needed.
• Identifies potential future performance improvement projects during the course of active project leadership.
• Ensures projects are scoped to an actionable process level.
• Determines workload distribution and management of resources by capitalizing on individual skills to create and maintain a synergistic team.
• Assists process owners with control monitoring following approved control plans.
• Identifies potential project translation opportunities and communicates opportunities to Six Sigma Director.
• Designs and refines training presentation content, supplementary materials, and learning activities that meets the evolving performance improvement needs of the organization.
• Facilitates system-wide performance improvement training for Lean Six Sigma skills, DMAIC, DFSS, Lean, Reliability Model, Action Work-Out, and Change Acceleration Process and additional performance improvement methodologies.
• Leverages the unique talents of each Black Belt & core team members to reach department & organizational goals.
• Meets with and mentors BB/GB and lean deployment department managers regularly. Frequency of meetings may adjust according to stage of project and GB/BB/Manager skill level.
• Coaches GB/BB/Managers in DMAIC and Lean processes/tools, change management techniques (Using the Change Acceleration Process), project planning, financial benefits calculations, improvement implementation, and project transition/handoff.
• Monitors GB/BB/Managers progress toward meeting project charter timelines and institutes viable recovery plans to ensure timely completion of project goals.
• Provides and promotes continuous learning and improvement environment within the department and organization.
• Develops templates and ensures tools are used to document project progress.
• Project expertise in specific areas.
• Maintains documentation required for projects.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
• Master's Degree (Required) Education: Masters Degree can be in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or Related Field. Experience: 5 - 7 Years of Black Belt Experience
