Position Overview: The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the implementation and oversight of safety and health standards on NAVFAC projects. The SSHO ensures compliance with all OSHA regulations, NAVFAC standards, and applicable Federal construction regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Review and approve job hazard analysis, work plans, and safety procedures. Conduct safety inspections and audits on all construction activities. Provide guidance and training to personnel regarding safety standards. Enforce safety standards and corrective actions. Monitor and analyze safety incident reports. Maintain safety records and reports. Provide technical guidance on safety and health matters. Implement appropriate USACE/NAVFAC safety standards. Update NAVFAC Project and USACE safety plans.
Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety role. Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations. Experience with OSHA 30-hour certification. Experience with NAVFAC or USACE safety policies and programs. Knowledge of EM-385-1-1 safety standards. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to create and maintain safety plans. Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
