Job Description

We’re hiring a Site Operations Director who will be embedded within our Lake Charles, LA manufacturing site and play a crucial role in helping to drive our strong safety culture. Our Lake Charles facility is one of the largest refining catalyst plants in the world and is an OSHA VPP Star-certified site. Our site and team represent over half of the Grace’s catalyst manufacturing capacity, which supplies a significant portion of the world’s refining technology catalysts. We employ over 380 employees.

 

 

Responsibilities Develops Operations Leadership team Provides Area Operations Managers first line of support for resolving resource and coordination issues within the site – on and off-shift Sets clear targets and Conducts Daily site-wide Performance Review Determines and leads capital and cost reduction priorities site wide Works with EHS&S, QA, Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Managers to drive continuous improvement and coordinate resources Interfaces with corporate functional teams (Global Operations, EHSSQ, HR) and aligns priorities across Ensures compliance with EHS&S standards Coordinates staffing and determines proper staffing balance across the site Accountable for the financial performance of each area. Involved in the monthly S&OP process Ensures inventory procedures are maintained and accuracy is consistent Communicates daily and weekly site performance. Coordinates lab priorities to meet operations needs Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering Preferred 15+ years of operations experience in manufacturing plants including leadership/management experience Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization Effective time management with the ability to meet strict deadlines Experience developing employees, strong coaching.
