Site Engineer
The Site Engineer will ensure all project elements align with engineering specifications, industry standards, and regulations, while fostering effective communication with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Key Performance Areas:
Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to specifications, codes, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors for timely project completion. Supervise and manage construction projects, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications. Assign and oversee site staff, including Site Engineers and Foremen. Maintain productivity and manage the program efficiently. Represent the company at project and technical meetings. Ensure monthly reports, QA documents, and registers are up to date. Labor productivity and cost control. Safety and inspection. Quality assurance. Construction time and cost. Interpret engineering drawings, survey reports, and technical documentation. Report project updates, milestones, and risks to the project manager and key stakeholders. Provide technical guidance to resolve construction-related challenges. Conduct site inspections and ensure understanding of construction details. Draft method statements and manage record-keeping (cubes, test results, delivery notes). Manage foremen and staff on-site. Plan and allocate resources, materials, and equipment for optimal efficiency. Monitor project costs, identify savings opportunities, and adhere to budget constraints. Place and approve orders, manage breakages and materials stock. Collaborate with the site QS to identify claim items and manage variances/instructions. Justify capital expenditure and hire costs when required. Interpret engineering plans, blueprints, and data to plan and execute activities. Submit fortnightly reports, justify program adjustments, and ensure photographic documentation. Check and sign off on QA sheets, draft IRS, and submit EOTs, NOPDs under guidance. Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports and change orders. Actively visit sites, interact with contract managers, and ensure staff meet deadlines. Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials, ensuring compliance with standards. Identify and mitigate potential risks to minimize delays, cost overruns, and safety hazards. Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. 4-5 years of experience in a similar role. Proficiency in managing and supervising construction projects. Experience with Microsoft Office and construction software. Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations. Competent in interpreting survey reports and technical data. Excellent project management, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and focus on quality. Knowledge of Building Code, safety regulations, and sustainable construction practices. Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent budgeting and cost control skills. Labor productivity, cost control.
