Are you interested in designing and building infrastructure to support leading edge technology in satellite communications? If the answer is yes, then the Project Kuiper team has an exciting opportunity for you.
Amazon has created some of the most game changing technologies in the world and Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
As a Site Civil Engineer on the Ground Systems Site Engineering team, you will be responsible for the design of overall site infrastructure of Kuiper Ground Gateways and Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C) antenna sites.
Key job responsibilities
• Review and aid in the development of hosting requirements (specifications) for gateway sites
• Assist in the review of proposed gateway sites to determine their suitability for Amazon’s use
• Assist the site acquisitions team by conducting site surveys if required
• Provide technical leadership and oversight during the design and construction of globally located ground gateway sites
• Review and approve site specific drawings and analysis submitted by local architectural and engineering vendors for domestic and international locations to include: Geotechnical and Topographical surveys; preliminary/conceptual designs; site power and fiber infrastructure including grounding and lightning protection; equipment foundations, site grading and access roads; and perimeter security fencing.
• Conduct onsite inspections during construction to ensure compliance with approved drawings
• Define remediation plans for deficiencies found during and after construction
• Support the development of infrastructure acceptance test activities
• Support the creation and maintenance of as-built drawing packages for the global gateway sites

As a Site Civil Engineer on the Ground Systems Site Engineering team, you will be responsible for the design of overall site infrastructure of Kuiper Ground Gateways and Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C) antenna sites. You will provide engineering support from conceptual design to overseeing the design, inspection, and test of the infrastructure for globally located Kuiper Ground Gateway and TT&C sites. Additionally, you will be responsible for working with the site acquisitions team to establish the suitability of proposed sites for Amazon’s use, working with the sustainability team to identify and implement renewable solutions.
About the team
The Site Enginnering team is part of the Ground Systems team responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper’s Ground Gateways and TT&C Antennas. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence (PoP) and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation. TT&C Antennas support satellite Launch and Early Orbit enabling command and control of the satellites during this critical phase. The team works closely with the Site Construction, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Kuiper provides a seamless customer experience.
