Signal Maintainer Transdev in Miami, FL is hiring for a Signal Maintainer. The Signalman/Signal Maintainer performs skilled work in connection with the inspection, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Signal System along the South Florida Regional Corridor. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of railroad operations. This position is represented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) union, in which you will be required to become a due-paying member as soon as you become a Transdev employee. Key Responsibilities: + Perform comprehensive testing of various railroad signal systems and grade crossing protection equipment at defined intervals per SFRTA and FRA reporting requirements. + Conduct thorough inspections of signal circuitry, railroad, and equipment to identify and address problems and defects. + Carry out maintenance, repair and replacement tasks for signal communication components and systems. + Maintain written electronic records of all tests, inspections, and repairs performed. + Respond to emergency conditions as required. + May require on-call support outside normal work schedule. Qualifications: + Possess a valid CDL driver’s license. + Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent educational credential. + Trade and/or vocational training in the electrical field is preferred. + Computer literacy/proficiency + Display effective communication skills. + Communicate effectively in English. + Possess excellent verbal and written skills. + Capable of working effectively both independently and in a team. + Basic wiring/electrical experience with AC & DC circuits + Basic mechanical wiring experience + Railroad signal related experience + Must be able to use basic hand tools + Must pass the Railroad Rules (GCOR) test and a Railroad Worker’s Protection test Physical Requirements: The essential functions of this position require the ability to: + Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations. + Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level + Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise. + Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs + Must be able to climb 35’ signal masts/poles + Bend, stoop, and carry heavy loads + Climb up and down ladders, stoop and maintain balance on equipment and stairs, and walk on uneven terrain, rails, and ballast in a safe manner.
