Job Title: Tech 2 Shop
Location: Houston, TX
Brief Description:
The Tech 2 Shop position will primarily be responsible for the assembly, installation, wiring, and repair of electrical panels according to company production and engineering specifications. The position will be responsible for work duties on simple to moderately complex assignments for shop technicians.
This role will work under the direction of the Shop Foreman/Supervisor.
Detailed Description:
Ensure all wiring is tagged, terminated, and secured in accordance with regulatory requirements Perform wiring modifications and repairs Perform mounting and installation of electrical components in control panels Fabricate light metal pieces for use in larger assemblies Rework and/or repair assembled standard equipment and products according to engineering specification changes Other duties as assigned Effectively and accurately communicate any potential problems with schematics, cabinet assembly, and / or point to point wiring within a timely manner Work closely with supervisors and leads to ensure Jobs are completed accurately and within a timely manner Maintain production area integrity, cleanliness, and organization according to established standards Ensure the shop spaces are clean and organized Participate in all required meetings, training and development activitiesJob Requirements:
Read and interpret moderately complex mechanical assembly and electrical drawings, symbols, systems Able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and or machinery problems Stay alert and focused including during occasional extended work periods Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects including overhead machinery Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times Ability to regularly travel as needed to visit work sites and support business units; may require extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area Ability to work on weekends and be on call after hours as needed Efficiently use a variety of hand, air, and electric tools Pay close attention to detail & perform daily job duties accurately Ability to read, interpret, and effectively communicate electrical systems schematics Understanding of electrical circuit design and concepts Consistently produce clean wiring bundles to established standards Able to verify engineering paperwork to ensure the correct paperwork is being used
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, certificate, or equivalent One (1) year stable related work history working in a manufacturing facility, shop or warehouse environment 3 years’ experience in wiring control panels Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy
Additional Details:
The Tech 2 Shop must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
