Summary – basic function of the role We're currently seeking a dedicated Shipping Technician to join our team at our Aberdeen facility on a permanent basis. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing both domestic and international shipments in line with all relevant specifications and requirements. Your day-to-day tasks will include assembling and inspecting orders, securely packing and crating items, and labeling or stenciling shipping instructions as needed. You'll also verify part numbers, quantities, sizes, and dimensions to ensure accurate identification of materials. In addition to managing outbound shipments, you'll receive incoming goods, check them against documentation for accuracy, and store them appropriately. Keeping detailed records and preparing shipping reports will also form part of your responsibilities, along with assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks when required. Shift: Monday to Friday, with participation in the on-call rotation. Evening and weekend work may be required. Job Duties and Responsibilities Accurately pick items for shipping based on pick slips, verify product codes, quantities, and quality before packing. Securely pack items using appropriate materials to prevent damage, by means of assembling wooden or cardboard containers or selecting preassembled containers. Prepare shipments according to the company carrier requirements, generate and attach shipping labels, invoices, and necessary documents. Meet with 3rd Party Inspectors as and when required complete inspection paperwork. Coordinate with carriers for timely pickups and deliveries. Load goods onto trucks or pallets safely. Ensure all shipments meet quality standards before dispatch. Follow company policies for handling hazardous goods. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Responsible for the maintenance and management of the hire fleet Kardex machines and database. Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems by means of daily cycle counts and yearly stock takes. Keep the workspace clean, organized and free from hazards. Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping, subcontracting, and receiving platforms to storage or work area. Check and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality. Record deliveries and maintain accurate documentation. Deliveries to client sites as and when required. Refurb of asset fleet equipment. Operate ERP system Oracle. Support other departments as needed. Skills and Competencies Attention to Detail – Ensuring accuracy in picking, packing, labelling, and verifying shipments to meet quality and documentation requirements. Inventory Management – Maintaining accurate stock records, performing cycle counts, and updating inventory systems like Oracle ERP. Logistics & Coordination – Scheduling pickups and deliveries, working with carriers, and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations. Material Handling & Equipment Operation – Using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely load, unload, and transport materials. Education and Experience Qualified to BTEC or equivalent Experience in a similar role is preferred Certification in the areas of Assembly, Calibration-Conformance testing and Order Management is preferred Forklift certification is preferred TWIC card preferred Valid Driver’s license is required Work Benefits 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays.
