Coordinates activities of incoming and outgoing shipments. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and records shortages. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Incumbents may be matched to this position if they are responsible for one of the functions instead of both shipping and receiving.

The Shipping Technician coordinates activities of incoming and outgoing shipments. This includes loading and unloading trucks and preparing documents. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and records shortages. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

Receiving Requirements

-Receive and verify materials.

-Unload materials from trucks using forklift or appropriate methods.

-Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming shipments.

-Work with the Materials Group to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, etc.

Shipping Requirements

-Ship orders leaving facility.

-Load shipments onto trucks using forklift or appropriate methods.

-Prepare documents, such as packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.

-Determine best shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

-Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.

-Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.

-Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.

-Keep records of all goods shipped utilizing Chempax operating system.

-Operate forklift and comply with all safety and preventive maintenance standards.

- Ensure all operations conform to our ISO 9001 standards.

- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, policies and company regulations.

-Prepare batch packets based on customer orders.

Create job travelerPrepare all product labels required for the order.Complete appropriate sections of log sheets.

-Close batch tickets in MRP system.  Report any inventory discrepancies (including lot discrepancies) noticed while closing batches to the Area Supervisor.

Working conditions are normal for manufacturing - warehouse environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. This position requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, work boots, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS

-High school diploma or GED.

-Shipping and receiving experience.

-Working knowledge of UPS and FedEx Freight Systems.

-Working knowledge of common carrier and general freight processing

-Working knowledge of international shipping requirements

-Good organizational and time management skills.

-Proven experience operating a forklift safely; possess or have the ability to obtain a forklift license.

-Ability to perform basic math functions.

-Computer literate with proficiencies in inventory software and Microsoft Office programs.

-Self-Starter with ability to work unsupervised.

-Strong attention to detail and possess good organizational skills.

-Assertive in adhering to policies and procedures.

-Strong dedication to working safely.

-Physical abilities:

Sitting, standing, use of hands/wrists.Intermittent walking, bending, twisting, crouching.Occasional pushing and pulling.Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
